I see some signs of Spring.
Some may poo-poo my saying this with so much time left in winter. It is Fakeout February here in Portland, after all. I get it.
Maybe I’m just a wishful thinker.
Maybe I’m just observant and optimistic.
Maybe I’m just ready for it and that’s what I want to see.
“Spring is nature’s way of saying let’s party.”
— Robin Williams
On my walk today, downtown along the water front, I passed by the cherry trees and the blossoms are on the way.
There is a long line of them down this stretch of the park and as I peered down the line of trees, through the dense overlapping branches and tiny buds, I could detect the faint hue of purple and it drew me in to take a closer look.
Maybe all the young buds, when they are dense enough, look this way regardless of their actual variety.
Maybe upon my return from Japan, I just have cherry blossoms in the brain.
Maybe, if you ask me, it’s just one of the signs of Spring, and it’s almost time to party.
