“Everywhere is walking distance if you have the time.”
-Steven Wright
Vlissingen is a beautiful little town down by the sea. It’s a short 7.6 km walk from our place in Middelburg to the water along a canal that runs straight down, the whole way there. There is a nice little path through the trees in between the bike path and the highway. With the train tracks on the other side of the canal, that made for 5 modes of transportation all right next to one another.
A lovely rural setting for walking. Apparently the dutch do take the time to walk or bike given all the purported paths and trails. Given all that exercise and fine chocolate, they must be a happy, healthy nation.

It does appear to be the case from my experience so far. I can attest to the numerous paths and trails, millions of bicycles and fine chocolate.
