Couple of things to take note of today …
- According to the New York Times, Australians are known for their colorful breakfasts and invented the avocado toast breakfast.
- It’s really hard to set up a good food shot when all I really want to do is eat the food.
I was inspired this morning after reading the Times article, so I had to go and buy some bread just to make it. Some chili sauce worked great in place of the pickled onions and red peppers in my version.
I’ve been a big a fan of this breakfast wonder meal for the last year or so, although I can’t seem to recall where I learned about it. The dish can be found all over the Portland cafe scene these days. It’s never been served by an Aussie tho … not even once.
Next time I make it for my kids, I’ll bust out my best Aussie accent …
