209 – Orders?

Ironically, I was just listening to a Radiolab podcast episode called, “The Bad Show”.   In this episode, the hosts call into question what we think we know about what is “bad”.

In one particular story, they reexamined the Milgram experiment and conclude that people are willing to do “bad” things if they believe it’s the right thing to do, but not if they are ordered to do it.  In other words, if people are not given a choice, they consistently reject the order.

I find that particularly true of choices in my life.  I don’t respond well to being told what to do.

Maybe that’s why these words on this train caught my eye.  I’m mean, why did someone put this on a train?  And, furthermore …
